Consultation-Liaison Psychiatrist, Sports Psychiatrist
Dr. Kenneth Oforeh is a board-certified psychiatrist with specialized expertise in treating individuals with complex and nuanced mental health needs. He completed his general psychiatry training at Interfaith Medical Center, located in the heart of Brooklyn, where he gained a strong foundation in adult psychiatry across diverse populations and clinical settings.
He went on to complete advanced fellowship training in Consult-Liaison Psychiatry at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC), a world-renowned institution known for its cutting-edge work in medical psychiatry. At UPMC, Dr. Oforeh was part of interdisciplinary teams managing some of the most medically and psychiatrically complex cases in the hospital system—patients whose needs often extended beyond conventional psychiatric care. This experience sharpened his ability to think critically, collaborate across specialties, and deliver care that is both medically informed and deeply compassionate.
Dr. Oforeh also pursued advanced education in sports psychiatry through the International Society for Sports Psychiatry (ISSP) and gained additional hands-on experience with a National Football League (NFL) team, expanding his insight into mental health within high-performance environments.
He has contributed to published research in the areas of sports psychiatry, substance use disorders, psychosis, and racial disparities in mental health care. His clinical thinking is informed not only by academic training, but also by a depth of life experiences that have cultivated a strong sense of resilience, empathy, and cultural sensitivity—all of which guide the way he connects with and supports his patients.
Dr. Oforeh’s practice is rooted in compassionate, evidence-based care tailored to the individual. He is committed to offering thoughtful, collaborative treatment that empowers patients to achieve clarity, resilience, and lasting wellness.
